Give Me My “Dislike” Button

So I am sure all of you avid Facebook user’s out there have asked yourself this question over and over: When will Facebook give us a “dislike” button?!

It seems as though the site has left out something so crucial to the Facebook user experience.  They gave us a “like” button in 2007/2008 and almost 3 years later, still no “dislike” button.  What on earth is taking them so long?  There are a handful of Facebook fan pages dedicated to this ignored “dislike” button. Some of those groups include:  “We Asked For A Dislike Button, and You Gave Us Another Like Button, Dislike Button, We Want A Dislike Option, I Wish There Was A Dislike Button, and I Want A Dislike Button.”

Openbook Against Facebook

The creators at Openbook are taking a stand against Facebook.

Openbook is a parody and has no ties with Facebook, they would just like to be heard.

The site allows users AND non-users of Facebook to search for information, made public via the site.  Creepy huh? Facebook “Shortcuts”

The bane of my existence sine Facebook changed their layout has been how to see my contacts.  All of them.  At once.  It used to be easy but their last change has made the search like finding a needle in a haystack!  But about 2 weeks ago I was victorious!  Turns out you have to “edit” your friends to see them all.  And then you have click on the “All Connections” tab on the left.  Or you just type facebook.com/friends/.

The other pain for me has been trying to find the applications!!!  Before you could just easily go to applications and be taken to a LIST.  Ahhh… the simplicity!  But now?!  Good luck.  After many futile efforts I finally realized you can type facebook.com/applications.  Now had this been any other website, that would have occurred to me from the beginning.  But Facebook doesn’t feel like any other website.  Its supposed to feel natural and intuitive.  So if I want to see the plethora of applications available I should be able to go to the “Applications” tab.  But its not that easy and I don’t know why.

Facebook Announces New Homepage Real-Time Features

facebooklayoutsforsocialnetworkFacebook just announced that they’ll be again redesigning their homepage. While this change will certainly not be as drastic as their prior one, which resulted in outrage, there’s still some people that will be upset.

What’s most interesting, though, is their reasoning behind the change. It seems the later half of 2009 has revolved around the real-time web. Here’s Facebook’s insight into their change: Continue Reading »
