Whether you’d like to believe or not; the truth kinda hurts especially when it comes to online dating.  SNAP put together the infographic below based on data from the 50,000-plus members of the “Are You Interested Facebook app” who use its mobile app on a daily basis.

The findings are not quite shocking as they are impressive:  61 percent of its users believe they are more likely to hook up on a mobile dating app than on a traditional dating site.

Why mobile dating over traditional dating sites you ask?  Well, if you think about it, more than half of our days are spent with our mobile phones.  With mobile phones and wireless internet, the more likely we are to keep in constant contact and in this case, keep in contact with possible matches via a mobile dating site.

Like many, we tuned into the f8 conference a week ago and were introduced to the Spotify music app for Facebook.  Once installed on your desktop, the app shares your music choices via Facebook, which allows your friends to see what your listening to and can join in and listen to your music list.

Spotify even goes as far as allowing users to enable private listening if some of your personal music choices are on the embarrassing side.  For example, I have an unexplainable love for the Backstreet Boys but I am a little too embarrassed to let this secret out.  With Spotify, you can enable the “Private Listening” feature for any song that you feel shouldn’t be shared amongst your Facebook friends.  Founder Daniel Ek comments that the feature is part of a new desktop client and is designed to “temporarily hide your guilty pleasures” and works just like your web browser’s private mode.

We decided to take our weekly blog post in a different direction today and that direction is Google+!

Generally, we share tips associated with Facebook but we figured it’s important to also pay attention to the up and coming social network, Google+.

We are still pretty new to the network but so far we love it! The only downfall to Google+ is that we have to log into two different social networks everyday in order to keep our friends or circles constantly updated on what we’ve been up to.  Having two separate social networks is like having to carry around two mobile phones; one’s for work and the other is for personal use.  It’s quite a drag and we only have enough pocket space for two items, oh the agony!

To relieve ourselves from this agonizing ordeal, we took to the web to search for a solution and found two:  PublishSync and SGPlus.

PublishSync is an extensions for Google Chrome that allows for posting your Google+ messages on Facebook or Facebook messages on Google+.  Once you tie your Facebook and other accounts, the extension with then give you additional share options to post to other social networks.

SGPlus is a more versatile extension that works for not only Google Chrome but also Firefox and Safari.  This extension allows users to make Google+ their one stop social site for integrating Twitter and Facebook into your Google+ profile.  The biggest plus to this extension is that it allows users the ability to see their Facebook and Twitter information while in Google+.  Users can even “like” and comment on Facebook without ever leaving Google+.

Overall, these extensions come in handy for those who want all their social networks in one space.  Currently, this is the only work around to streaming Google+ with other social profiles.

2. Install the free PageRage browser app by clicking on the green “Click to Download” button.
3. Once you have clicked to download, your computer will be prompted to install PageRage.  Keep in mind that PageRage is compatible with the following browsers:  Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Firefox.
4. After you have installed PageRage successfully, click on the Create Your Own Layout tab at the top of the page.
5. On this page, you will see the NEW PageRage CYOL tool.  Use this tool to create your contest winning Facebook layouts!  In the final step of creating your layout you will need to save the image of the layout to your desktop by right clicking on the image of the layout and clicking, “Save As.”
6. ALMOST DONE! After you have saved the image of your layout to your desktop, go back to PageRage’s homepage and click on the contest banner to submit your layout.  You can also click on this link to enter the Facebook layouts contest.
7. Once on the contest page, click on the “Enter” button and the app will guide you through the appropriate steps to submitting your layout.

The dating scene now-a-days is drab and bleak, especially for 24 something year-olds looking for love.  My girlfriends and I have been discussing how much harder it is to find a great guy now that we are full-blown career women and no longer in school. Since social networking is all the rage now, many people, unlike myself, are flocking to the internet to hopefully find the love of their life.

To me, finding love online seems as drab as the dating scene in real life, until one of my girlfriends managed to stumble upon a Facebook app called Badoo.  You heard of it?  I never heard of it and was pretty skeptical when she mentioned it to me.  To be honest, I would never try online dating, especially if it was something I had to pay for.  My girlfriend told me that Badoo is free and can be downloaded right from Facebook.  She had me at free so I asked her more about the app and what it could do for me, dating wise.  Badoo is a location-based social networking platform, enabling users, like you and I, to find new people in the area – to chat, flirt and meet.  I decided to give the app a try and come to find out, I have three potential dates lined up for the next two weeks.  We’ll see how they go and I will keep you guys posted.  I’m nervous at the same time hopeful that one of these guys will be the one!  I encourage you all to try this app out too! You never know unless you try, right?

Shazam!

Sounds magical doesn’t it?  Shazam is such a cool app and just released today, users of the app can share their music tastes with friends on Facebook, Twitter or through email.  If you are looking for an easier way to share music tastes with friends through social network sites, this app is it!

If you are unfamiliar with how Shazam works, here’s the gist:  Download the app on your mobile phone or iPod touch and hold it up to a song that’s playing on the radio in your car, in a coffee shop, in a store etc. Hold it still for about a minute and the app will tell you the name of the song and the artist. You then have the option to buy the song, share it on Twitter, Facebook, or email.  Pretty Shazammy eh?  The app works for the iPhone and iTouch specifically, but is soon to become available to Android users.

Once installed, Inside Facebook comments that, “Cueler creates a YouTube Videos tab with a banner video, a Page admin must select a banner video as the centerpiece of this new tab. Admins may also use Cueler to require Facebook users to Like their Page before being able to watch videos, and they may appear in 400 or 520 pixel widths. Once these settings are in place, hitting the Configuration button and re-editing them is very easy.”  This app is a nice addition to just plain old status updates. With a video tab filter thrown into the mix, fans of your page with be more inclined to keep coming back for more.  Sweet!

Since the start of our Facebook Layouts blog, many of you have come to us asking how to create a Facebook layout and the answer is simple:  PageRage.
